Braintech to Exhibit Robot Navigation Software at Robo Development Show
New Version Uses Bluetooth Wireless Communications with Mobile Robot
October 22, 2007
VANCOUVER, BC — October 22, 2007 -- Braintech Inc. (BRHI.OB), will showcase the release of VOLTS-IQ SDK 1.5 at the Robo Development trade show in San Jose, California, October 25-26, 2007. VOLTS-IQTM is a visual intelligence software suite that provides feature recognition, object localization and robot guidance in the form of Microsoft Robotics Studio services.
Braintech will demonstrate the power of VOLTS-IQ through its integration with a small, mobile, computer-enabled robot toy. Images are transmitted from the robot’s onboard Bluetooth wireless camera to a remote laptop where they are analyzed by VOLTS-IQ SDK services to produce autonomous navigation commands. Commands are transmitted back to the robot to effect logical behaviors such as object seeking and grasping. This breakthrough in robotic vision science allows those using Microsoft Robotic Studio to start developing useful autonomous mobile robots.
Babak Habibi, CTO Braintech, states: “A few short months ago I posed a serious challenge to our robot vision scientists and engineers. I asked them to not only deliver the next version of enhanced robot vision services in VOLTS-IQ SDK, but to also integrate these services with other components including a wireless camera and a commercially available robot to create a complete intelligent robotic demonstration system. I did this because I believe the best way to build real technologies that work, for real product developers and hobbyists, is to walk a mile in their shoes. Judging from the results, I think our team has succeeded in meeting both challenges and I’d like to extend an open invitation to robotic developers to come see our demonstrations at the Robo Development event and to provide us with their insights as we move forward.“
See Braintech in Booth #406 on October 25-26,2007, at the Robo Development Show in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, CA.
